Neocon, you do not agree with Greenspan who has told Congress in no uncertain terms this is not the time for a taxcut. It is sound fiscal policy to save a taxcut for an economic downturn. This is very basic economic policy. Bush's advocacy of a taxcut at this time shows he is more interested in getting elected than promoting the economic well being of the country. We should be using the money to reduce the debt because, when the boomers retire, the country will have to borrow again. The federal government is relatively smaller (compared to the GDP) than it was 8 years ago. I am afraid you have been listening to too much propaganda.

As for the national debt, well, the tax cut is premised on a surplus that the Democrats were likely to spend anyway.......

If Republicans control Congress, as they do, how will Democrats spend the surplus?
