Mark, I hope that the places you went on Westheimer were further out than the Montrose area. That ain't my kind of place. I haven't been in The Village for years. Rice has grown so much, I no longer recognize the campus, so don't have any current thoughts about the area. Lee Brown is trying to jam a mini-rail system down the tax payers' throats, that will go from downtown, through the Medical Center, and out to the Astrodome. Fat lot of people that will benefit!! People that need to go to the Med Center, are not coming from downtown. He's just trying to get the citizens to pay for transportation to the new football stadium.

Zoning would be a big help, but all of those that really care, have moved outside the city limits. The female mayor was Kathy Whitmeyer,(spelling questionable) but there was nothing good about her. She was a lot of things but, IMO good was not one of them. I don't want to go into some of my objections to her, because they are long past now, and make no difference.

There are a few Longhorns and Aggies that refuse to bury the hatchet, unless it is in one another's head. I have found that, once the football rivalry is over, we get along fine. I hate to hear that an Aggie would be so stupid by having a vanity plate like that in Austin. The only real problem I have with any Longhorns is with my sister-in-law. She will not bury the hatchet for nothing. I happened to wear one of my Aggie hats to Christmas day at the old family home, and she wouldn't talk to me all day.
