That's a huge increase. Inaddition, analysts as a group also raised their profit estimates for the year 2001. Why the optimism? Many analysts say the next few months may be rocky for amd but the company will do well over the next few years. So we have your classic bull- bear argument. Whoever is right will pull in a whole lot of poker chips or money, back to you, sue. Sue: Both amd and its arch-rival intel have made substantial gains this year. But amd, in yellow on this chart, has been much more volatile. It's been up more than 200% and although those gains have faded, its gain for the year to date is still more than twice as much as intel's....
