Almost everybody looks like an idiot when they first get on the dance floor, John. The secret ingredient is desire!

If your kid sees other kids swing dancing, for instance, and really wants to do it, it is just a matter of time and money spent on practice.

My grand daughter had a flair for it, has been at it for about a year and a half, and it took her about 6 months to get really good. She is now the best 13 year old lindy hopper in the country, Just came in first as a "Jill" in an all ages "Jack and Jill" contest in Monterey last month.

Swing Dancing is the best social activity for teenagers that I know. To give you an example, The most popular swing dance hangout for teenagers in the USA is call "Memories" in Tustin, Ca. The Saturday night dance every week has about 300 teenagers there, and it goes until 3 or 4 in the morning.

They do not have any security guards!

I defy you to name any other teenage activity with that kind of social behavior.
