I don't post much on the CSCO thread, but I haven't seen this particular topic discussed there anyway.

I don't know if that would have the desired effect. Generally the put seller would expect the puts to expire worthless and pocket the cash rather than expecting to have the stock put to them. Put selling by tech companies has been pretty common for the past couple of years and has contributed to the bottom line of a number of the more visible companies.

It is safe to say that I am completely uninformed about this particular transaction though. But from the beginning, I have taken the side that this was more of a bullish indication than bearish.

So, "yes" anything is possible, but I doubt for the reasons that you stated.
