I'm guessing 1.1GHz will come out the same day as the price drops. As you said, it makes no sense for AMD to not offer
a high end processor for two weeks.

The Register mentioned Intel's IDF as a possible reason, although that is probably a very long shot reason. The IDF is Aug 22-24. Here's the link -

Intel will free Willy info during the conferences. I can't wait to see if they release benchmarks. Of course, since IDF is an Intel love fest, Intel will probably show SSE2 enhanced benchmarks to make Willy look even better compared to the PIII.
