Re: Chic, post this on SI's SUNW tread and then quickly hire body guards. <GGGGG>

Haim, actually I think those guys are starting to respect me. I was telling them months ago that IA64/Win64 were no threat while the naysayers were talking that platform up. I was right, we will see no IA64 out of the low end for a LONG time, if ever. I keep telling them that IBM is the real threat, but they are in denial. IF the POWER4 materializes as I expect, IBM will dominate the high end. I've also got to wonder about IBM fabbing HP's and CPQ's 64-bit chips, it seems like too much of a conflict of interest for IBM. IBM is gaining complete control over high end servers, in one way or the other. IBM management would probably be happy to turn down a money making deal to fab Sun's chips, they would rather let them suffer. If anyone would start to get second thoughts, simply watch any of McNealy's IBM bashing speeches over the last 5 years (he bashes them on almost every public appearance he makes if you didn't know).

regards,

chic
