There is also the fact that the US doesn't have the highest standard of living in the world, doesn't have the highest literacy rates in the world, doesn't have the cleanest environment in the world, isn't the greatest manufacturing nation, and doesn't have the lowest poverty rate. Those distinctions all belong to other countries. And we're not second in any of those measures, either.

This isn't the only place in the world where citizens have free speech, either.

Don't get me wrong, I love the US. I don't think it's a bad country, by any means. But just stating, over and over again, that the US is "the greatest country in the world" while other nations pass us by in all the areas I named, as well as others, only helps us lose ground year after year.
