Powerchip Semiconductor Reports Record Sales

Sales up 116.8% from last year.

Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. (PSC) reported July net sales of 1.71 billion, up 116.8% year on year and 12% sequentially, reaching the record high for the second month. Accumulated sales revenue from Jan. to July was 7.45 billion, up 23% year on year.

Mr. Eric Tang, PSC spokesman, pointed out that the excellent revenue performance was mainly attributed to the increasing output of 64Mb DRAM, yield improvement, and stable DRAM pricing. In July, 90% of the 64Mb DRAM output were 0.18um products, which will be further upgraded to 100% starting from September.

Starting from July, PSC’s production capacity has been expanded to the full scale of 30,000 wafers per month. As demand outlook remains strong for the second half, PSC expects to keep on breaking the sales record with the increasing output of 0.18um products and continuous yield improvement. Over 100% sales growth is estimated for Q4 monthly revenue.
