I think you guys are way off base with the "diet" containing lots of chinese food. The history of diets, as it's been told to me, is largely a story of failure. But recently many folks have told me of excellant success with the hi protein diet. I think there's something to this idea that carbs are far more easily converted to fat than protein. My thinking is, go ahead and eat more protein and lay off the rice, potatoes and bread, if you need to loose wt and get into better shape right now. Afterwords you need to get back to eating in the manner that a cardioligist would reccomend.
