Obewon, I'm basically an investor, not a trained analyst. The UMC stake and the restructuring away from the pc video card was what initially attracted me to S3. Rio allegedly contributed 50% of current qtr revenues and it's just getting started and flash mem availability and pricing should be favorable for us. The networking/modem biz is just kicking off this quarter. The Via deal 'should' be settled this week or next. This webpad thing is an unknown and it sounds like a decent product, but...other folks are there and the Palm is more convienent than an etchasketch, even with voice recognition and touch typing. Buy a laptop.
Keep seeing digital audio, where is the video and streaming media and what's to stop Sony from putting a transmeta chip in a walkman and calling us sushi? Did ya see the Casio watch with MP3 capabilities. And Sony and Casio advertise, I did my Peter Lynch thing in the mall, NO ONE has heard of S3, no matter how ZDnet and CNet covers them.

Random musings, praying for CSCO tonight.

Call me anything you want if you want to be a jerk but I think today's market reaction will speak for itself. S3 had zero, zip, nada visibility under Amaral. Dead wood. nuf
