Same answer as before. They would love to find something in revenue numbers or future guidance to drive stock down further. At some point the laws of physics kick in and a bottom is established.

nnillionaire,

<<From Marketwatch:

Analyst Mark Fitzgerald at Banc of America answers the question of whether a strong earnings announcement will matter to the stock: "We think that the concerns that hang over the group are upstream and are unlikely to be resolved with a strong earnings release from AMAT.">>

Is Fitz implying that the reality of higher earnings is no cure for neuroses? Or is there something else he's saying? Anyone know what an "upstream " concern is versus, say, a downstream concern? I suppose all investors have concerns. I can't imagine some of these great companies in the sector selling off over 50% without "concern."

But Fitz doesn't say "his" concerns or "our" concerns, so he must be referring to other people. Nor does he give any detail as to what the specifics are. Since his job is to know this stuff, why can't he get on the phone and ask these people "what are your concerns and why do you have them.?" Predicting stock price is impossible, but telling us what other people are concerned about would be a piece of cake, in my opinion.

I don't think Fitz has any obligation to tell me anything. Maybe he does know what details are behind the concern, and choses not to say what they are. Instead, maybe he chooses to generalize. But then, why say anything if it isn't cogent?

Just one guy trying to learn something,

D
