1. Erroneous to state that anti-war protestors were violent. Almost never was violence directed at another human being by an anti-war protestor.

If you don't count spitting on and throwing garbage at returning soldiers and getting nose to nose with them screaming horrible things, you're right.

2. Erroneous to state that protestors were all getting deferments. Men and women of all ages and from all walks of life protested the war, most of them who protested had no actual chance of being drafted. Student deferments were phased out.

The yippies who did the organizing were getting deferments.

3. Erroneous to state that the people beating up on protestors were "kids." They were pricks; a lot of them were the same type of psycho scum that try to become security guards because no police force or military will have them after a psychological test.

They were mostly kids, and likely were pricks.

4. Erroneous attribution of motivation - they felt threatened by a challenge to authority and the status quo. Only really weak people feel the need to beat other people up to establish dominance.

You assume a lot here. You must stop reading Psychology Ptoday.

5. The end of the war meant that no proles were being drafted, either. Duh.

Agreed

There was nothing wrong with countering a yippie street action with action. I took part in an anti-war protest once, but mostly for fun. I was only 16. I also boycotted grapes in support of Cesar Chavez.

Jack Kerouac was right when he said hoodlums and communists had taken over the hippie movement.

Yeah, but what about Kent State. People were gunned down.
Oops, I guess that was the protesters that got shot.
Shooties not shooters.
Sorry.
Really sorry, I started this as a,a,a turn around being 100% wrong on Cobey's post. It ain't funny. Those innocent kids were shot dead in front of their friends.
