True. Remember, drugs were legal back then. Cocaine, marijuana, heroin, etc. all legal. It was the teetotalling christian churches in the late 1800s and early 1900s that railed against drugs and alcohol. They systematically worked on congress to outlaw all of the above (even tobacco). They got their way on everything except tobacco, but later the criminalization of alcohol was reversed.

Now they have set their sites on tobacco again after 110 years.
