I have a theory about those stupid whisper #'s.
I beleive that those who are short the stock make stupid whisper #'s that no company could meet thus making the stock look bad when earnings come out.

Whisper is only as good as those doing the whispering. Not sure this one will matter much. Look for analysts and short sellers to digest the revenue numbers with a fine tooth comb. The analysts will chime in first. They will likely reiterate their buy ratings and applaud CSCO's revenue surge. Look for some revenue and earnings tweaking. That'll be interesting to see imo. Then as the trading day begins, the stock will gap up, possibly run a bit, and then sell off as "profit taking" takes hold. How much will it sell off? If people are able to poke holes in the report...and they WILL try...CSCO could end the day red. And if that is the case, that'll be bad news for the stock in the short term imo. And bad for technology stocks in general. Unfortunately, we wont know they've found holes until the stock has already been hit. Then the press will look to "explain" the weakness and somehow stumble upon some shortseller more than willing to tell what he has found. But remember, a lot of people know that CSCO is the key for the market right now -- rightly or wrongly -- and that'll mean a lot of people will be trying to move the stock one way or another. All this said, I suspect no serious holes will be found. fwiw
