Jay,

Rather interesting that on SNDK web site they have the MMC card listed as one of the products for consumer but there is no mention of the MMC card listed on the product page for RESELLERS. I wonder why?

Although I couldn't find a press release, according to the SNDK web site, 64 MB MMC cards are available.

I notice that under the product spec sheet for MMC cards at the SNDK web site, they do NOT list a 64 MB capacity.

why?

Jay,

Despite my blue mood I still believe that MMC/SDMC will be a big winner for SanDisk. I suspect at least one or two orders of magnitude bigger than CompactFlash.
IMHO, MMC will ultimately replace CF in the digital camera market.

I am sure that SNDK has 64 MB MMC available somewhere, but I cannot find them. In any case, the manufacture of the 64 MB cards still requires stacking. This is a problem for extremely thin cards like MMC and SmartMedia. Toshiba and Hitachi may have more advanced designs available to them that afford tighter packaging. When we were at 128 Mbit densities the 32 MB MultiMediaCard was a challenge. At 256 Mbit the 64 MB remains a challenge.

I suspect that SanDisk and Hitachi are probably equally advanced in their development of MMC. I think FlashVision will give SanDisk the added "umpfh" to shift into high volume 64 MB MMC production.

I wish the IP issues surrounding MMC were a bit clearer.

Again, the Hitachi press release makes no mention of SanDisk whatsoever.

As things develop I think SanDisk's position on MMC will be spelled out and many of my concerns will be put to rest.
