My only concern with Haim's numbers is that the comparison assumes that the previous year's numbers were not also padded with "other Income" It will take some research to track that down. If the other income in this report is similar in amount to past reports then it is nothing to pay attention to. If it is unusually large, then it is a red flag. I am surprised that this is not a topic for discussion on CNBC etc. Makes you wonder...

Though not a CSCO shareholder (never so far), it made me curious. I looked a bit further, and note that the amortization of goodwill and the purchased in-process R&D from acquisitions is multiples higher this year than last. NOT having the $461 million in purchased in-process R&D, for example, would alone have made nearly half a billion dollar better picture on the bottom line. This is a one-time number...unless CSCO continues to grow/run its business with non-accretive (in the short term) acquisitions.

I haven't looked, but doubt that its revenue line was affected much by the acquisitions (you know how it is, many of these acquired firms are newbies with little in the way of revs) but certainly has had a big effect on the expenses.

Because I haven't looked deep into it yet, this is just a thought...

Cheers

the big positive on cisco numbers was revenue, they beat the highest number there, i just dont think its enough to carry the rest of the market , msft was up too high today, its due for some consolidation, i just dont think we are going through 3900 on first crack, need at least one more pullback prior to fed meeting, dow up 7 days in a row, no other big news out till ppi, and i dont think it is going to be that big a deal, risk reward not there for tomorrow on long side imo
