Obviously the market is trying to figure of th implications of the NPNT/VZ deal today. WSTL moved down today and up in the aftermarket. Let me try to figure this out.

NPNT sells mostly SDSL and most of the modems are from NTPA, with DSLAMS from CMTN. They do not do ADSL very much as they only recently started. Only about 66K lines total

VZ does mostly ADSL for residential. About 220K lines total. They will move all the DSL biz to NPNT and NPNT will remain operational managers. VZ will not be in operational control!

I think the sell-off today was fear that NPNT would use CMTN, EFNT's or someone else's equipment for ADSL. So the sell off. This is insane. CMTN does not sell ADSL equipment. NTPA sells a ADSL router for small biz, not residential. They too only just started selling that. Its only EFNT that has ADSL modems that NPNT started using. Only a very few of those.

Although a move to EFNT possible, it is more likely that they use WSTL given the lines installed. 220,000 to a few thousand ADSL lines, which way do you think its going to go?

This may have an effect on WSTL's plans for any SDSL equipment. It doesn't really have much now so I don't see major effect if any.

Secondly, the deal won't be complete until January. Integration ,as the CEO of NPNT said ,will take a while. So I see no effect positive or negative for WSTL for about a year.

As people digest this, I think the price will move back up. Which is what I think happened in the aftermarket. The CSCO number is aslo great for everyone, except shorts.

I expect a good move up tomorrow.
