I do not see why not. The only possible way it can be done if amd would dilute the stock rather than cash.
1)I am not sure about the level of the leverage though.
2)Licensing fees would be small and I am not sure amd is not reach enough to through 400mil just to stimulate competition
3)same thing with settop - 400 mil is a lot of money to invest into low margin product

unfortunately, S3's products are awful. I don't think it's worth 350 million just to get via's chipset support. They should use that money to make their own chipsets :) Vertical Integration
