"...it´s hard to believe that the WSJ article timing just one day in front of the cc is a pure coincidence..."

I don't think it was a coincidence...I think the reporter was forced to 'rush it', because she knew the 2nd Q financials would be out this evening for everyone's scrutiny/analysis, and didn't want to chance being 'scooped'. If you read the WSJ article, you'll notice there wasn't any ONE real substantial charge...just lots of well-written innuendo and speculation.

Three other points...

1. Herb Greenberg first brought up the "Korean #s" on July 5th...and the stock slid from the mid-forties to the high-twenties over the next month. I think Bastiaen Gaston would absolutely have to know that this Q's financials would be gone over with the proverbial "fine-tooth comb". And given that, he had about 35 days to prepare the financials. He had to know that Greenberg, plus other journalists and analysts were eagerly awaiting a chance to disect the financials. . Now who out there in their right mind would chance fudging the numbers knowing that?

Ask yourself this question..."If you were Gaston...how would you have spent those 35 days?" I know I would have spent them making sure my books were absolutely above reproach.

2. Plus, this was already expected to be a bad quarter. Investors were braced for rather dismal numbers -- a transition quarter. There was just no incentive -- no motive -- to doctor the books.

3. HG Cowen just put out a fairly in-depth analyst report on LHSP on 7/31 and it was fairly bullish. Today, I saw a blurb by them in defense of L&H...to paraphrase... "....We've visited their Korean office, and it's a rock-solid operation..."

PS -- I may be leading with my chin...but I'll wait until the auditors are thru before making any decision. It's times like these that it tough to remember..."Buy LOW...sell HIGH" <G>
