Joe, Re: 433 MHz Duron notebooks?

433 would be 2/3 of 650 but I suppose "even" multiples might not matter. It would be interesting to know what the power draw is at the reduced clock/voltage (assumed).

Would someone have already made notebook motherboards for Durons... since mobile Durons are a 4Q item this would require planning ahead and we haven't been overwhelmed with the apparent planning ahead progress recently.

Maybe they just got confused with K6-2+ (seems really unlikely) but 433 seems slow even for a K6-2.

I'm guessing it's not a Duron, but a K6-2. Typo, in other words.

I still think that even underclocked, the Duron would consume far too much power. We need the new mustang core for mobile athlons. IMHO.

Joe,

<The part may be a regular 600 MHz Duron underclocked / with lower voltage.>

I am pretty sure that's what it is. (EDIT: People are saying this could be a K6 - I guess that is probably a higher likelyhood thing)

Given the delays in KT133, I am concerned about Duron laptops. It is not clear to me that ALI's mobile chipset is far enough along to make for Q4 volumes.

On the otherhand I am upbeat about Mustang+760. That should be a killer combo. If AMD continues with its chip execution track record, AMD will be in a great spot in Q4.
