Hi all; Old news, new source: Intel considers dumping Rambus for DDR in mainstream PCs:

VIA, Acer Labs Aim to Monopolize DDR Chipset Market in 2001 July 31, 2000 (Taipei)
Intel Corp. said that it was considering introducing a new chipset for its Pentium 4 processor, tentatively dubbed Brookdale, in the third quarter of 2001.

The new chipset will support the non-Rambus memory set, 133 SDRAM, and will also be able to support double data rate (DDR) memory when this new technology comes on stream. ...
