Taiwan's Mosel Vitelic July Sales NT$2.97B Vs NT$1.18B
TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--Taiwan chipmaker Mosel Vitelic Inc. (2342.TW) said Wednesday its July sales reached a monthly record high of NT$2.97 billion ($1=NT$31.088) from NT$1.18 billion in July 1999.
Sales for the January-July period grew to NT$17.37 billion from NT$8.68 billion in the year-earlier period, a company official said.

The official attributed the jump in sales to rising product prices amid a continued recovery in the global semiconductor industry.

Mosel Vitelic shares closed up NT$3.5, or the daily 7% limit, to NT$60 Wednesday.

Taiwan's Winbond Elec July Sales NT$5.24B Vs NT$1.81B
TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--Winbond Electronics Corp. (2344.TW), one of Taiwan's largest chipmakers, reported that July sales rose to a monthly record high of NT$5.24 billion ($1=NT$31.088) from NT$1.81 billion in the same month last year.
Accumulated sales for the first seven months of the year grew to NT$26.5 billion from NT$14.8 billion in the year-ago period, the company said in a press release.

Winbond credited the good performance to rising product prices resulting from continued recovery in the global semiconductor industry.

The company is upbeat about its sales and earnings growth in the second half of the year, the traditional peak season for computer sales, it said.

Winbond shares closed NT$4 higher at NT$83.5 Wednesday.

Alliance Semiconductor Reiterated `Strong Buy' at Prudential
