Press Release
Information Architects Names Joe Montanile Regional Sales Director for New York
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 2000--Information Architects (NASDAQ: IARC - news), providers of XML-based dynamic aggregation and syndication solutions for driving eBusiness across the Net, continues to build an aggressive, experienced sales force to drive its expansion campaign with the addition of Joe Montanile as iA's Regional Sales Director for New York.

Montanile, who will report to newly appointed Senior Vice President John Flavin, comes to iA with two decades of successful sales management experience, most recently at Open Text Corp., where he managed the sales of enterprise software for intranet, extranet and portal development.

``At iA we beat earning projections for the second quarter, eliminated our debt, and are positioning ourselves for explosive growth as we put into place a solid sales force,'' said Robert Gruder, iA's Chairman and CEO. ``The potential in the New York region is enormous, and Joe's proven sales management experience in the area will be a key to building on our momentum and getting still more eBusinesses to take notice of SmartCode's unique ability to truly achieve real-time syndication and aggregation across the Net.''

ABOUT INFORMATION ARCHITECTS (iA)

Information Architects' SmartCode® products allow for the constant exchange of any content directly from any data source, and offers simultaneous access to multiple data sources from any location. SmartCode can syndicate to virtually any Internet device, such as wireless and palm technology, and interfaces with nearly every existing application. Without SmartCode, web-based businesses must create applications to collect data and maintain costly intermediary repositories to store the information from other sources. When that data changes at the source, the information stored in the database becomes outdated - and often inaccurate.

But SmartCode continuously detects any changes in that information at the source, and retrieves only the data that has changed. This prevents the display of outdated information. SmartCode also eliminates the need for a user to leave a website through links to other sites that offer the information he or she needs. Instead, the data comes directly from the source, and SmartCode formats the information to conform with the feel and style of the original website, making the process ``seamless'' and the site itself ``sticky'' because the user never leaves the site.
