Ilmarinen,

That link you provided is an interesting one. If you go to the last 3 minutes of the Q&A, Dr. Lee is asked if multi-carrier will be allowed in Europe. His answer is quite revealing:

"This is a sensitive question...The answer depends on the cost, performance and development timing. If you can have one system regardless of whether it is wideband (direct spread) or multi-carrier, as long as one system can come out and prove that it is a good and low-cost system, then the other question that you talked about will disappear."

While I may not have the quote exactly, I don't think I missed the meaning. My interpretation of this statement is that if CDMA2000 1x works and is cost-effective, then there will be too much pressure to deploy it. Vodafone isn't gonna sit around waiting for NOK and the GSM cabal to get their act together. The regulatory barriers that NOK and the GSM cabal are counting to save their kiesters at the expense of their customers will be broken down.

No need to take it from me. We have it right here straight from the horse's mouth - the Chief Scientist of Vodafone. NOK and the cabal better stop screwing their customers and shareholders.

The clock is ticking...
