InfoSpace's Platform of Services to Be Demonstrated on the Intel(R) Dot.Station Web Appliance at Telecom Business 2000 InfoSpace provides Intel with platform of services for the new Intel(R) Dot.Station web appliance that will enable service providers to establish deeper relationships with their customers and create new revenue streams

BELLEVUE, Wash., Aug 9, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- InfoSpace, Inc. (Nasdaq: INSP chart, msgs), a leading global provider of cross platform merchant and consumer infrastructure services, today announced that InfoSpace's services on the new Intel(R) Dot.Station web appliance will be demonstrated at Intel's booth number 417 during Telecom Business 2000 from August 9th -- 11th in New York City. In response to overwhelming demand from service providers for ways to deepen customer relationships by offering Internet services under their own brand, InfoSpace began collaborating with Intel to develop a unique platform of integrated, cutting edge private label Internet services for the Intel Dot.Station web appliance.

Effective immediately, InfoSpace-powered services are available to service providers who offer Intel's Dot.Station web appliance, empowering them to roll out a range of Internet services directly to customers under their own brand. The services include commerce services that enable users to find local merchants, comparison shop among online and offline retailers and service companies (users can simply enter a UPC code, part number, barcode or ISBN to shop for a specific product) and make purchases with a single click.

"InfoSpace's platform offers a fully integrated suite of data and transaction services that can be rolled out under any company's brand," said Claude Leglise, vice president, Intel Architecture Group and general manager of the Home Products Group. "We think that the Intel Dot.Station web appliance with InfoSpace's services will be a powerful tool enabling service providers to deliver compelling, high-quality products, services and user experiences."

"Internet service providers missed their first opportunity to fully support their customer base by offering cutting edge applications and services under their own brand and we are giving them another chance," said Naveen Jain, chairman of InfoSpace. "Today, service providers are looking to InfoSpace as a way to offer Internet services under their own brand to decrease customer churn and build their bottom line. Both narrow and broadband Internet service providers, by offering customers an Intel Dot.Station web appliance with their branded services and applications, have a powerful tool they can use to reestablish these profitable customer relationships."

just like i email my friends and cousins, even though i could just pick up the phone and call them?

Or just like millions of teenagers go on Aol and chat instead of using the phone. Keep up the FUD spytrdr.

Oh, btw, if video conferenceing takes off the company that controls the IM standard will control the way we do video conferencing.

idc.com

p.s. ya, sure...maybe IM on the cell phone won't be extremely popular, but you never know. All this doesn't really even matter, this isn't where INSP will make their money anyway.

you're kidding, right? this is unbelievable.
if you have a cellular handset with which you can TALK, why do you want IM??? to *write* something to your buddies on the non-existing
keyboard???

Hey spytrdr, get out and experience the world a bit eh? In fact, this writing instead of talking behavior can be observed in just about 100% of the young people in both Japan and NW Europe. Don't ask me why, but these kids (and some older people) seem to love writing messages instead of chatting. Even the radio stations have games using this technology.
