If I'm not mistaken.. when all DIY places + smaller OEMS are combined into the "other" category.. their percentage of the pc market is the leader - (over 50% I believe) better then Compaq, Dell, Gateway and all other "big OEM's" combined.. perhaps thats changed since I got out of the computer selling business 3 yrs ago.. but that was the stats back then. >

I do not have stats in front me either but here is my cut at it. These are extremely rough. May be someone can provide us with the latest dataquest numbers.

Total US Micro shipments ~50% of total
Total US Corporate shipments ~70% of that

US Retail and other (including DIY and small shops) as % of total WW shipments ~15%

Take away the top 10 OEMs and that number is now in single digits. Split thi single digit number between Intel/AMD Duron/K6/Athlon - the Duron DIY/small-shop numbers are next to nothing (as % of WW shipments)

I welcome someone with more specific data to post.
