Mark- No. Not a, "direct," threat. Because ANTC's claim to fame is cable telephony(circuited-switched variety) and Harmonics is distribution and digital content delivery. IMO, CSCO stuff is attached upstream of both ANTC and HLIT's claim to fame areas. But ANTC and HLIT do overlap CSCO in some areas, but it's not a large overlap as far as I know. I could be wrong because I really don't know the dollar costs of the individual pieces in the HFC network. IMO, SFA and MOT are the real competitors to ANTC and HLIT.

CSCO is so focused on packet voice. But the here and now for the next couple of years is, IMVHO, going to be circuit voice. Circuit voice cable telephony is not even easy to do. So I'm fairly confident packet voice over the HFC network is at least a couple of years out. You see if circuit voice was easy to do, then MOT or SFA would have already dropped in on the circuit-voice game. Of which they have passed on as far as I know.

I really don't know what CSCO's future plans involve. I would only be speculating if I said anything at all about it. HTH. -MikeM(From Florida)
