Jean, I used to own a small manufacturing business, that we ran for three generations until I sold out to a major. Over the years watchig my business and the market I have learnt that sometimes great business models live their lives and are replaced by others. The "edge" is not to be bought, but rented. (sort of like the way South Amercan generals used by back in 70's and 80's! Dell had a great think that made the analysts mouth water. It is gone, for know. Mr. Dell was a mighty hungry man when he deveòloped his model. Now CPQ, IBM and the other box makers have caught-up with hime and Dell is just another box maker! They even don't have the service end. I live in Europe and I know that here Dell is almost non.existance witht he exception of UK. They are far far behind and never really had a chance, since their model is no good here!
