"..The same Koreans you speak of as "rolling out" cdma2000 are in fact its greatest betrayers..."
----------

But there's no longer anyone to betray.

Multi-mode is near and inevitable - No, it's here now.

NTT/Korea are about to roam with PDC/CDMA - how long till wCDMA/CDMA? How long till NTT/Sprint or Verizon roaming?

Multimode strips GSM Europe of its primary leverage over 3G - "use our standard or lose access".

Now it just won't matter. Won't matter a hill of beans - to the telecoms or to QCOM.

NTT becomes an equity partner in SpinCo. NTT has to deal.
As first movers, they have much more in common than in conflict. They meld and move ahead in concert, while Europe sits on the bench, grafting air conditioners, generators and radiation shields to EDGE handsets.

wCDMA/CDMA becomes a united standard on a chip.

There's no longer anyone to betray.
