Maybe one problem with Duron is the unwillingness of large oems to replace Celeron units with Duron units so close to "back to school"...perhaps because a fear of availability and stability of the relatively untested platform.
Anyway you look at it it was a failure by AMDs marketing department and whomever is in control of making sure there is infrastucture...and selling the idea to OEMS (marketing)...
Perhaps they will have Duron units qualified by Christmas.
