"Toshiba's dominance in a kind of ''flash'' memory chip--which retains data when the electricity is switched off--also gives the company a leg up on competitors..... But Toshiba's variety is especially suited to large files, such as photos in digital cameras or music in MP3 players. What's more, other companies that decide to build this type of chip will have to pay license fees to Toshiba."

The above is a repeat quote from post #13693

businessweek.com

No mention of SNDK

Does anyone else suspect Toshiba is spreading dis-information through its publicists?

I hope SNDK writes a letter to Business Week to educate these writers.

1. It is still August. Although we've had little rallies August is generally very volatile. I just don't belive that there are the same number of buyers around concentrating on buying stocks especially as this month is a dlodrum month ie after last earnings and way before next earnings. Sort of like February or May.

2. Stocks it seems to meonly go up materially over very short time periods. most of the time they seem to me to spend in trading ranges or declining.

3. In the doldrum months keen shorts will make hay becasue there is little volume and few buyers so any selling causes an exagurated decline. It seems to me that stocks drop in value much more easily than they increase.

4. August 19th Sat is option expiry day and there are over 2600 contracts for strike 60 puts. That may make a bit of a difference once its out of the way.

5. Oct through Dec is a good time to see some real growth in the stock price if it is going to happen. After that you have a couple of weeks in January and then doldrums again till the middle of March ie till the March qtr earnings start to get near enough to feel.....then another three or four reasonable weeks and then doldrums again.

6. My guess is that people have been more active shorting stocks this year than the last few years as we have been in a bear market for nearly five months now.

7. It would be really dissapointing if teh stock fell back to the $40 but it does look like it could happen fi the bear market continues. The P/E of course declines and SNDK with its huge profits and cash starts to look like a value stock and the cycle I guess continues.

One thing is however clear and that is that with todays volume there must be some very very determined shorts out there. Presure tells and with out buyers and a long way from earnings and only story announcements like todays the stock looks set to get whacked for the next few weeks till we get a feel for the Sept qtr earnings.

Just my uneducated HO

Best regards,

L
