I know someone that worked part time for this "company" and they told me Alex Brown knew all along that it was a loser and they constantly pumped it with bogus news reports. A website that gives away worthless promotional stuff for free - the kind of stuff you throw away when you get it in the mail. It cost them $3 for every $1 of advertising revenue they brought in, and the "company" wrote the costs off as marketing expense to show a profitable operating income. This is a blatant example of how the public is taken to the cleaners by their trusted institutions. Meanwhile while all this was happening Aurther Levitt (SEC) was focused on going after daytraders as the real source of the problem!
