Wow!!! Excellent post!

If Verizon has doubled the installation rate since June, this is incredibly good news for Westell.

The Northpoint acquisition won't even come into play for at least 5-6 months. Meanwhile, looks like WSTL is on pace for another blow-out quarter, even considering the Verizon strike.

Thanks for the excellent rebuttal.

One of your quotes from VZ's Q report is very interesting but raises a few additional questions.

"Verizon is currently installing approximately 2,500 DSL lines a day --double its June rate -- and aims to have 500,000 DSL lines in service by the end of the year."

This sounds like excellent news for the future revenues of WSTL. The month of July was double the month of June.
So August and September should also be double last Qs rate of deployment. But,we now have to factor in the lost of deployment due to the strike. So far, we only lost 5 days of this double deployment due to the strike. If the strike can be resolved within a few days(say in the next 5-10 days), WSTL's revenues from VZ should still show explosive growth in the next reporting period. If, however, this strike continues for more than three weeks, WSTL's projections will probably fall short for the next Q. Even if the worst case scenario comes to past (a strike lasting more than a month), the negative results on WSTL revenue should only impact next Q. And if that did happen, we would
would probably see a larger than anticipated 4Q.

Did WSTL's factor in this explosive growth at VZ when they projected the revenue for 3Q? If so, they will have to revise these estimates if the strike continues for a significant length of time.

Thanks for another great post, Michael!

Eventually the street will catch up to the story that is WSTL. Every move we see is like a chess game unfolding, and the strategy becomes more clear.

Institutions can be a skittish investment lot, when they look over their shoulder every month; it makes it difficult for them to justify holding stock that is under water; so many short term profits are being taken these days, to hedge against uncertainty; and as a result, in the short term, the market is not necessarily an efficient pricing mechanism.

OTOH, this is exactly what has presented the individual investor with the great buying opportunities, if only they are alert enough and have the courage of their convictions.

Posts such as the ones you consistently put out illustrate how the internet has become a powerful tool enabling the small investor to team with others, and share information and thoughts about their investments. Thanks again.

All the best, Rich

Thanks for sharing the info, Michael. It appears you (and most others on this thread) have good knowledge of WSTL and their products. Wonder if you (or anyone else) can provide some answers since I'm a newbie after diversifying some of my PAIR/ADCT gains to this up-and-coming gem.

1) what are home modem speeds folks are experiencing?
2) is the modem G.lite? w/ USB plug if so?
3) does WSTL intend to brand the modem for store (e.g. Best Buy or Circuit City) sales?

In the January Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas, I played with several G.lite modems highlighted at the DSL forum. This platform appeared to be preferred and many "vendors" [Creative, Robotics, etc.] were VERY excited about this and showed pending products scheduled for store delivery late summer/early fall 2000. Target retail was between $150 and $300.

Thanks.

Great Michael.

what does that mean vis-a-vis cash flow and eps?

Isn't that what the market is voting on now?
