Somebody on the other AMD thread asked me the same thing.

I thought that an AMD-SUN deal would help them both - and help them both hurt their common enemy, Intel.

Maybe it still would - but ITanium is now too close to release and SludgeHumper may still be 1+ years away from sampling.

I'd say the SUN-AMD tie up now falls into the category of "Opportunity Lost".
