Paul, re Yahoo and Itanium, comment from Yahoo that was in this link:http://www.intel.com/eBusiness/estrategies/casestudies/yahoo...

The other link you put up: intel.com.

"We're extremely excited about the IA-64 processor family," says David Filo, founder of Yahoo!. "We're looking for opportunities to consolidate back-end servers, roll out dynamic new services, and speed response time. IA-64 and Intel® Itaniumâ„¢ processors will help us do all these things, while maintaining all the advantages of the Intel® Architecture."

That's the point. Customers want to follow on and use new servers, or any product, from vendors that they've been happy with. Obviously, Yahoo is from this comment:

With 1,500 servers spread across the globe, Yahoo!* finds that Intel® Architecture servers both speed searches and contain costs.

Those, of course, would be Xeon or PIII based servers from one or more of the following: CPQ, DELL, IBM or HP, all of whom have development plans using Itanium.

This should be on the Intel thread, I know.
