Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) to Introduce Laptop Security Product and New Integrated Hardware Monitor at the IDF ADI also addresses wireless data connectivity and bus functionality in technical conference and birds of a feather presentation ***BOOTH NUMBER 811 NORWOOD, Mass., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI - news) will showcase the company's portfolio of data security solutions, integrated ASICs, wireless and RF (radio frequency) silicon solutions, integrated digital audio products for PC motherboards, and power management solutions at the Intel Developer Conference (IDF) in San Jose, CA (August 21-24).
( Photo: newscom.com ) Analog Devices will feature discussion of two newly announced technologies during the IDF, targeting the OEM computer laptop and server markets, respectively:
Laptop Security-Analog Devices will announce an agreement with Caveo Technology, LLC. in which ADI's ADXL202E will be used in conjunction with Caveo's proprietary software in the development of advanced security products for laptops and other applications. The resulting product, Caveo Anti-Theft(TM), features the ADXL202E, a tiny, low- cost, micromachined tilt-motion sensor which enables location- awareness in hardware. PC Systems Monitor ASIC-Analog Devices will announce the ADM1026, an integrated thermal and system management device for high-end server platforms, including Web servers and other high-reliability systems. The ADM1026 is a complete system hardware monitor that addresses the burgeoning server market, which is expected to grow to 2.5 million units shipped in 2000. Analog Devices will also present during both the technical conference and the birds of a feather (BOF) presentations. Dale Stolitzka, Chief Systems Architect at ADI, will join presenters from Intel and Compaq in a technical session on the System Management Bus (SMBus), a low-speed control bus common to desktop and mobile computer platforms. With his co-presenters, Dale will discuss details of how to extend the bus functionality of the SMBus 2.0 for desktop peripheral cards, server hot-plugging and mobile docking. Additionally, Doug Grant, Business Development Director at ADI, will address wireless data connectivity in a BOF presentation titled, ``WWW: Wide-area Wireless Wizardry.''
Analog Devices will also participate in the Intel Mobile Voltage Positioning Lab, with representatives of both Intel and Semtech, in order to provide insight into the ways in which the Intel microprocessor voltage regulator design lab can significantly reduce CPU power-a requirement of thin and light performance systems.
Other ADI Technologies Represented
Integrated Digital/Audio for PCs
SoundMAX 2.1, announced in June 2000, is an integrated digital audio product for PC motherboards which now supports multi-channel configurations. By offering software-based digital audio features for PC motherboards, SoundMAX provides end-user functionality equivalent to that of hardware-based digital audio products-all in a tiny footprint. Providing built-in compatibility with Intel's Communications Network Riser (CNR) specifications, SoundMAX has become the digital audio system in one of every two PCs shipped today.
Power Management Solutions
The ADP3020, the ADP3160 and ADP3412 will be highlighted in Analog Devices' suite of innovative, high-performance power management solutions. The product line offers general purpose switching regulators and controllers, desktop computer VRM power controllers, laptop computer dc/dc converters, low dropout linear regulators (LDOs), cellular phone power management ICs, charge pumps and battery chargers.
Wireless and RF Solutions
Analog Devices' SoftFone AD20msp430 chipset allows designers to build applications such as GSM mobile phones, handheld platforms and Internet appliances that can accommodate 2.5G wireless data communication standards. Analog Devices' Othello(TM) chipset, which paves the way for next-generation cellular phones by enabling data rates 25 to 30 times greater than today's GSM data rates of 14.4 kbps, will also be featured. Othello makes possible high- bandwidth applications such as Web browsing, email, games and real-time video.
