chic, I hope Sledgehammer **NEVER*** gets any support from Microsoft. I'm happy to hear there will be Linux support, Solaris would be an added bonus.* If AMD wants 30% of the market, there is no way to get there without Microsoft support. I consider Linux support as given, that's why I didn't mention it. But with Linux alone, Sledgehammer would not go anywhere. The only thing that will make it possible for Sledgehammer to survive and prosper without Win64 is the fact that it can run Win32. If the only thing that could run on Sledgehammer was Linux, I would probably be selling the stock. Win64 is going to be so bad it will be confined to the low end, where you can just sell 32-bit systems anyway. For either IA64 or Sledgehammer to ever get out of the low end, it will take a non-Microsoft OS. I guess you are talking about the server market here, and you are right, IA32 is the low end, and even this low end is still out of reach of AMD. So if AMD can capture a good chunk of this "low end", we will all be wealthier. Joe
