I don't doubt for a second that the overall conclusions reached are true, it is the magnitude I wonder about. If stocks are trading at apparent unprecedented levels, it can be dangerous to look at the past stats in trying to guess where the house of cards should come tumbling down. Something we are clearly not too good at. -vbg-

well, yes, it's true that lots of cos. have gone public that would never have been able to do so say 5 or 10 years ago. but their share of the total market cap is minuscule. the top 50 cos. in the S&P index represent almost 80% of total market cap.
