Agree with you 100%. The problem is that I remember someone made the almost identical comment on the dell thread 2 years ago. Will csco become dell? Certainly not in the immediate future. The bears case is that the good times end for all companies so for years they hammer CSCO. One day the then current group of bears will be right I guess, BUT when this happens Bams and his followers will be retired to his Sandbox while you will be in the Penthouse and the reason will be that you didnt get scared out prematurely. Even the Dell folks who may have ultimately bailed had a year to get out at reasonable prices if they chose to and those who held may yet be rewarded as Dell certainly aint dead yet.

Desires, expectations, and reality ...part 2

Desires for riches = greed

Expectations that a stock will go up because it always has is foolish.

Reality valuation matters. Huge float, 11 cents real earnings, only 30% real earnings growth at the peak of bull market/ bull economy. As the market bubble continues to break, venture capital dries up. Debt levels peak and the wealth effect of a bull market turns to a broke effect of a long bear market....CSCO stock will take a bath.

Close your eyes, cross your fingers, dream of sugar plums and Santa Claus.....

Buy, hold, average down...what ever you like....the easy profits of the last five years are gone for at least 15 years.

PMS, RE: I have no intention of parting with my CSCO shares in some vain attempt to out-smart the market. I'll leave that mug's game to the short-termers to enjoy before their bankruptcy. I'll content myself with owning a piece of a spectacular company, led by great management, and propelled forward by a well motivated and well compensated workforce.

Please recognize that by holding CSCO, you are making just the vain attempt to out-smart the market that you decry.

If you truly didn't want to 'make a vain attempt to out-smart the market', you'd own an index fund.
