Burt,

The only thing I can figure on AMD is that it went up so fast, there are a lot of traders willing to take profits whenever the NASDAQ sneezes. Even if their earnings stay flat through the rest of the year, it still seem like a relative bargain. Maybe there is some lurking bad news, hope not since I own a few shares.

Burton,
RE:"

Paul and all - What the hell is going on with the downdraft on AMD? I am certainly seeing plenty of 1 MHz Athlon offerings by all the SD shops that advertise. Flash prices are still good and they are presumably all sold out. What is scaring the hell out of the investors? Seems to me with the predicted growth in earnings ($4 to $6 for the year) there ought to be a price between 80 and 120 depending on the euphoria level. Is there any bad news lurking? If so what, if not it looks like a buy at this level."

Let me riterate...
1. No one will ever buy a PC again...
2. We are headed for a depression
3. Mutual funds are taking profits (serious)
(These guys flunked out of pre-med because they could get more than a 60 in Calculus).
Jim

I'm buying more AMD half the profit from 16 to 97 has been taken... 56-57...so we are close...

Burt - Re: "What the hell is going on with the downdraft on AMD? "

Looks like AMD introduced their new "Hammer" chip and the stock got "Nailed" !

My guess is that the world is waking up to how far behind AMD is (to Intel) in strategic growth markets - servers, advanced servers, 64 bit CPUs, data communications, etc.

AMD has a history of making a good run at catching up to Intel, only to be left behind once Intel gets its engines revved up.

Intel's engines are getting revved up !
