It seems some kind of nervousness is building up because yesterday AMAT´s earnings and CC were less well received than we probably hoped for. Although the ongoing discussion is certainly important I would like to point out that there is a certain chance that we overreact to the 4% drop of AMAT. I see some swing from slightly bullish to bearish moods in the messages within the last days or so. Is this justified based on a single day of trading and some analysts comments? Just look what was done to CSCO yesterday! It was a bad day, not more not less. Sure, the cycle will somehow end some day, but we are in a different situation than we have been in when it happened last time. As mentioned before on this thread and by AMAT itself, the whole thing is now much less PC driven than it was, its more about communications and the internet. Also, AMAT is now in a better position than it ever was, resulting in a better book to bill ratio for AMAT than for the sector. Good reasons to consider the current levels of AMAT´s stock price as an entry point, as you sort of recommended a few days ago ("Accumulate on weakness for an intermediate term trade").
Accordingly, there is only one safe way to prevent the feeling of "having eggs in the face" when the "waterfall" comes, which is something not only you but we all are afraid of, take profits whenever it seems appropriate.

Regards

Michael
