I will encourage you to continue on your path.I have a cousin who is quite older than me who started investing in the mid 80s who today has a 8 figure portfolio. He is also employed in the tech sector and swears that he used to buy 20 to 50 shares on a monthly basis.Between his company stock options and his own purchases he is financially taken care for the rest of his life.I hope this gives you some comfort that you are on the right path.

Best regards,

Shahram

<<why should the size of the investment have anything to do with where it is invested? >>

It shouldn't. I typically measure ROI as a %, so the amount doesnt matter. However, my counter-argument is that if the funding aint big enough to effectively diversify, then a "stock" like QQQ (the NAZ 100) may be a mechanism to get the rewards (maybe to a lesser extent), than picking "1 bad stock". Having said that, I do remember buying 20 shares of CSCO, some time back. turned out to not be "1 bad stock" :-)

cheers, kumar

Well, as I said that was my first reaction. I started out investing at a time when odd lot commissions could kill your return. Perhaps times have changed.

My only other concern with that many stocks is that you have to asked yourself if you have adequately looked into that many companies or are just following the crowd. A small investment coorelates with less experience.
