Interesting. Kurlak must have felt pretty silly after that.

But honestly, there were some great buy signals when AMD went that low.

I'm glad you got in so low. That's the basic idea in any investing or trading: buying low, selling high -- not buying high and talking oneself into believing that the fundies look good while the price continues down.

In many threads on SI, "due diligence" seems to amount to a group of people diligently talking themselves into believing that their falling stock will go back up one day, because they're due a break, after losing most of their money. DD amounts to dumb and dumber.

It's tough making money in the market, whether with TA, FA or plain common sense. Who really cares how one does it? TA does really work well for some -- but not for others. Some TA is just plain awful. But some analysis is excellent. There are just so many ways to go about doing it. Same with FA. Same with trading.

Tom Kurlak (not ta) and some ta's questioned if the company is going to survive at all at the time

Albert, I think I posted here the first time I owned AMD stock. I did not buy it based on TA. I bought it based on FA (my using their product and liking what I saw and saying to myself "you know I think these guys have got it together and can give intel a run for their money"). I only used TA to PICK my entry point. For goodness sake I don't think any TA person would tell you to live and die on TA alone. I invest on FA using TA for the entry point and exit point. And I TRADE (not necessarily DAYTRADE... more of swing trade) on TA ONLY!

So I have 2 mindsets. One is investing in good beat down companies that no one wants right now and the other is trading. I use FA AND TA for the investing and TA for the former.

Now, anyone that made a statement that it may not survive based on TA doesn't have a clue about TA. TA will NEVER give you the answer to that question. Only FA will tell you that.
