Mattel just can't seem to catch a break, and it can't be fun wandering the halls there these days. Mattel said it will have about $100 million in lost sales in the second half of 2000 due to a shortage of computer chips. Seems like all the chips in the world are going to wireless phones and handheld computers and none are going into the little Barbie cars or talking Barbies or whatever they use chips for.
