I always thought "GFY" stands for "good for you." You seem to be implying part of it rhymes with schmuck or duck. Perhaps some people just don't perceive niceness properly.

Hey mani, I vote to suspend the idiot also. Hope to hell I am allowed to vote or should I send my proxy to you?

This is about the funniest thing I have seen yet. You are getting your clock cleaned and you want to vote?

I tell you what. Why don't I tell the spec in the pit tomorrow that mani wants to hold a vote on whether he should allow the sellers to take this any lower.

I think the "GFY" and "ah" comment to Albert did the trick.

Hell that was no trick. The trick was shorting your beloved AMD at 90+ and watching it dive. THAT WAS A TRICK!

Maybe there has been too much oblivious bullishness on this thread, not enough openness to other views. (Positively my last note, as the theater troupe said in "Nicholas Nickleby.") It could pay to be open to other points of view at times, I reckon.

Below is a note on this thread from July 20, at the very time when the stock was giving all sorts of sell signals (in the reviled dark art of TA), including a triple top, reverse hammer, stochastics crossing down through the signal line, RSI falling, MACD preparing to cross down through 0, momentum falling through 0, etc., etc., etc. In TA, it doesn't get much clearer. Yes, it's easy in hindsight, but Monty's been pointing out more recent danger signals and buying opportunities for shorter-term traders.

As for longer-term traders, I can't see that it's worth watching the daily fluctuations of a stock. Mani's done a good job pointing out the strengths of the company, and fundamentalists can take his notes to heart as the stock suffers from technical pullbacks.

And yet, at a time when there was a clear top -- for those not in for the long term -- the following was written, leading one to think that differing points of view can be worthwhile, too. That's the point here: not that anyone was right or wrong, because predicting prices can always be iffy, but that all points of view are worth hearing out, FA, TA, or whatever.

From July:

PT re << If this analogy only rates an "outperform" I wonder what it takes for a Strong Buy?>>

Padres winning the world series? :)

How about, AMD is doing to Intel what Padres did to the all mighty Braves in 1998? Strong buy!!

How about...PIII is old like Kevin Brown, that's why Padres sent him to the loser Dodgers! Strong buy!!

How about, Itanium is like a 40 year old pitcher with another 3 years left on the contract at $10M per year...Strong Buy for the competitor AMD

How about...AMD's Athlon CPU is the triple crown winner, performance, value and ....errr OK double crown. In that case maybe just a "buy".

How about...P4 is like signing a free agent pitcher hoping to increase the teams slugging percentage. Strong buy for AMD

I could go on and on and on...getting tired

MONTY:

is just an argumentative guy--but with something useful to
say.

He should be asked to filter out the abuse/dismissal of
other people's opinions that do not agree with his.

In my view, however, he is a net contributor.

Best wishes,
Jim

Result of voting:

Here are the result of the vote to suspend Monty for two weeks:

Yes: 31
No: 19
Other: 6 (other suggestions or not clear)

Not enough for the required 2/3. He can continue to post if he so chooses. I will not post any further detail on the result because I simply do no have the time.

I have to admit that I am very disappointed by the results. Perhaps some people do not consider "ah" and "GFY" and repeated name calling enough for a 2 week suspension. I never thought I would have to use "ignore" any more. Well, I was wrong.
