Announces Results from Dioxin Conference ITHACA, N.Y., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Paracelsian, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PRLN - news) ITHACA, N.Y., announced today that a delegation of senior executives from Paracelsian, headed by the CEO and joined by their colleagues from Kubota Corporation (KUB), recently attended the annual international conference on dioxin methodological and risk assessment issues in Monterey, California. An exhibit booth displayed for the first time Paracelsian's new version of its dioxin test kit, the Ah-Immunoassay method. Considerable interest from potential customers and regulatory officials, including senior officials from the EPA, was shown in this novel and cost effective way to survey and monitor for the presence of dioxin and dioxin-like chemicals in the environment. ``It is clear from the conference that this multibillion dollar testing industry is being driven by an intense interest from both the public and the scientific and regulatory communities,'' said CEO and President, Dr. T. Colin Campbell. ``We were especially pleased that approximately one-hundred and fifty business and science representatives attended from Japan alone, where Paracelsian has granted a license agreement with Kubota Corporation to market its Ah-Immunoassay Kit,'' said Dr. Campbell. ``The conference also confirmed that this market is expanding well beyond dioxin testing to include testing for a broad range of highly toxic dioxin- like chemicals which arise mostly from the many industries who use high temperature treatment processes,'' continued Dr. Campbell. ``We believe our technology will be effective in testing for this broader ranger of toxicity and, based on the response to Paracelsian at the conference, we are confident in our ability to communicate this message to the marketplace,'' concluded Dr. Campbell. The President of GESS Environmental, Andrew W. Jolin, who is working as an environmental business consultant for Paracelsian, was quoted as saying, ``A natural extension of Paracelsian's license agreement with Kubota Corporation in Japan, is to pursue licensing and sales in Korea. At the Dioxin 2000 Conference this week, we identified research and distribution partners in Korea that are already in the dioxin testing business, including Pukyung National University and KNJ Engineering Corporation. We will go to Korea in the next 30 days to assist these local Korean partners with Ah-Immunoassay validation tests for the Korean government and plan distribution of the Ah-Immunoassay kit throughout Korea.'' A potential domestic distributor was also identified who can build on Paracelsian's success in applying the Ah-Immunoassay to incinerator effluent screening in Japan with Kubota. Andrew Jolin explained that, ``In addition to the large market for incinerator effluent screening in Asia, now that Paracelsian has developed the sample preparation methods for incinerator samples, we are actively pursuing sales to US incinerator companies and analytical laboratories that service incinerators in the US. At the Dioxin 2000 Conference we established a distributor whose specialty is providing dioxin testing services for incinerators in the US.'' ``In addition to establishing potential distributors in Korea and the US, there were 25 companies interested in purchasing the Ah-Immunoassay Kit,'' concluded Mr. Jolin.
