Chuck - RE: "One has to wonder what the people who are selling AMD at this level are thinking. I shake my head in disbelief. Less than 10x forward PE and 2x forward sales! Sometime you get better than this at the bottom of the semiconductor cycle! And this company has a strong product lineup - better than at any point in its history."

I sure don't get it either. Athlon is about to become a three pronged tool, flash is sold out, and the street is too dumb to realize it.

I just heard today's CC. I can see why Kash didn't think it was good. Didn't seem professional, the voices weren't clear, and I think I heard a baby cry at one point in the background, but that may have been from the person who asked a question. I think the AMD guys did a good job at what they were supposed to do - talk about X86-64.

RE: "<If the time ever comes, I don't think this thread will ever be a good indicator of when to sell AMD. ;) >"

On that score, I think that you are incorrect. I recall that there was an almost giddy euphoria when the stock traded in the eighties and nineties. The last time that such euphoria prevailed was when the stock hit $47 for the first time. If you are a trader, and I am not, the time to sell is whenever such euphoria occurs on this thread.

There seems to be a good deal of pessimism now. Do you suppose....

Maybe this DRBES guy (or gal) is right.

I have been watching this slide in amazement (and pain

You are hardly the only one. I would have done better to have put my money under my bed and taken out a $20 bill every day and burned it. I am very deep in the red right now.

One has to wonder what the people who are selling AMD at this level are thinking. I shake my head in disbelief.

They are probably thinking "Oh my God, look how AMD is going down. I better take profits (or cut losses), while I still can." I thought it was only for a short time when AMD went back down to the '80s. I though it strange when it went down to the '70s. I thought it crazy when it went down
to the '60s. Now in the '50s I don't know what to think. I don't want to sell at the bottom (in fact I just bought a bull LEAP call spread), but its hard when you keep losing money like this. I feel like I need a 12 step program - "Hi, I'm Tim and I'm an AMDaholic. At first it was such a rush and I just thought it would go on and on...". I sent about $26,000 to my broker this year. Now I have less the $10k. (in retrospect heavy call buying when AMD was in the 80's was not a good thing...)
