Sr K, RE: n the cc (the last 10 minutes of Q&A) they confirmed that the publicly traded investments are marked to market, and the private investments are reported at cost. We have to wait for the 10-Q to see the specifics on the investments, which may show in the income statement, or as a change in Unrealized Gains, within Equity.

Please note that publicly traded investments are only market to market on the balance sheet. On the income statement only realized gains are shown.

In addition, note that DELL does a much less specific job of breaking out the investments line than its peers. The best thing that you can do is check out Intel, who does do an excellent job of disclosure, and extrapolate their results to DELL. DELL and INTC often participate on the same deals.
