Scroll down past the Durban Deep interview and you'll find two decent articles on gold. One point brought up is that the collapse of the Soviet Union left the world awash in metals. Commodities to watch in the future for possible sudden strong increases in value: oil (already happening), gold, and aluminum.

Metals investors sitting there with their half-consumed twelve packs might want to start saving the cans.
